A man is off to the distance watching this boy as he continues to take starfish that wash up onto the shore and toss them back into the ocean. The man watches as hundreds of starfish continue to relentlessly wash up on the shore, and the boy just as relentlessly, continues to toss them back into the ocean.
Finally the man walks up to the boy and says “Why do you keep throwing these starfish back in? There are too many and they just keep washing back up to the shore. What does it matter?”
The boy just looks at the man and then responds with this simple reply: “Sir, it matters to the ones who make it.” Author unknown
